Network, network, network . . . . and thumbdrives too

EPISODE 2:

Every household has a TV, a fridge, telephone, the family dog and . . . a network to connect the house’s computers to the net and each other. Joey and Reuben discuss the wonderful world of networks and what else can be attached to it.

In the past the 5.25” floppy disc ruled supreme followed by the 3.5” disc (also called a floppy even though it didn’t flop). Then came the slew of proprietary high capacity discs (Iomega, etc.). Today’s king of the fast and easy data transfer is the lowly thumb drive. This episode discusses the many uses and shapes these devices come in.

The first in a series of technology podcasts designed to inform people about the practical uses of technology. Joey and Reuben discuss all things podcasts related from the different categories of podcasts now available and how to get these on your MP3 player and wonder why in their “extensive” survey only 1 out of 4 listen to podcasts.

The second topic discusses broadband options. Obviously useful for people not currently connected to the net or by those still using dial up but surprisingly also worthwhile listening to if you are still on a broadband plan from a couple of years back.
